Formoterol isa very potent, long-acting, beta2 adrenoceptor-agonist with a high intrinsicactivity and a rapid onset of action Where as Budesonide is a potentglucocorticoid that binds with high affinity to the glucocorticoid receptor. Ithas a high ratio of topical to systemic activity.  The combination medicine has different modes of action and showadditive effects in terms of reduction of asthma exacerbations thus used tocontrol and prevent the symptoms of  in adults and children above 6 years old. Formoterol& Budesonide is also used to help control the symptoms of chronicobstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis.
